Our main office is open 7:45 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

You can reach Roosevelt by phone at 562-602-8056, by email ([insert office email]), or by visiting the main office during school hours. Updates are also shared through ParentSquare and the Roosevelt website.

Teachers can be contacted directly through ParentSquare or by email. If you are unsure of your teacher’s email, call the office and we’ll connect you. Teachers may also schedule times before or after school to meet with families.

Roosevelt offers Dual Immersion for Kindergarten and 1st grade only. 
To participate, please call the school office at 562-602-8056. Our staff will guide you through the process, help determine space availability, and answer any enrollment questions.

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized program that helps students develop organization, collaboration, inquiry, and critical thinking skills. Roosevelt is proud to be an AVID Showcase School, a distinction earned by only 2% of schools nationwide.

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is a hands-on STEM program that allows students to explore science, technology, engineering, and math by solving real-world problems and working collaboratively.

The Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) offers enrichment opportunities beyond the regular school day. Students may participate in tutoring, arts, sports, STEM activities, and more.

Your first step is to reach out to your child’s teacher, who knows their progress best. If additional support is needed, you may schedule a meeting with the counselor, assistant principal, or principal. Together, we will create a plan to support your child’s success.

Families can access the District’s Back to School Resource Guide for information on a variety of supports. In addition, Roosevelt’s school counselor and school social worker are available to connect families with resources, answer questions, and provide personalized guidance. Please call the office to schedule an appointment.

Some learning opportunities—such as cultural events, performances, or outdoor experiences—are only available outside the regular school day. These trips allow students to extend learning beyond the classroom and connect with the wider community.

Students should stay home when symptoms present a risk to others. Guidance from the California Department of Public Health includes: 

• Fever (100+°F): Stay home until fever-free overnight without medication and symptoms are improving. 

• Sore throat: Stay home if fever, difficulty swallowing, or breathing problems are present. If diagnosed with strep throat, antibiotics must be taken for at least 12 hours before returning. 

• Stomachache/abdominal pain: Stay home if severe pain, injury-related pain, bloody stools, vomiting, diarrhea, or fever is present. 

• Eyes: Stay home if fever, vision changes, or intolerable discomfort is present. Pink eye alone usually does not require absence. 

• Vomiting/diarrhea: Stay home if vomiting occurs 2+ times in 24 hours, stool is bloody, or fever is present. 

• Rash/itching: Stay home if oozing/infected, rapidly spreading, unusually located, or linked to serious allergic reaction or contagious illness. 
  For diagnosed conditions, always follow your healthcare provider’s advice. 

To protect instructional time, Roosevelt does not accept deliveries of balloons, flowers, or gifts for birthdays or special occasions. These items will be held in the office until the end of the day. 

• Forgotten items such as homework, backpacks, books, or lunch will be accepted in the office and picked up by students during non-instructional time. 

• Phone messages will only be delivered in emergencies cleared by administration. 
  Parents can help by checking that students have all needed items before school and scheduling appointments outside school hours. 

While birthdays are important, our main focus is instruction. Celebrations may not take place during class time. With teacher approval: 

• Treats may be shared at lunch or after school. 

• Families are encouraged to provide non-food items (stickers, pencils, etc.) in line with the District’s wellness policy. 

• Any food items must be store-bought and pre-packaged, and dropped off before school begins. 

• Balloons, flowers, or gifts will not be accepted at school.
